Eating a fruit here and there or opting for steamed vegetables instead of fries at dinner may seem like enough to get more produce in your diet. And while small changes multiple times a week is a better strategy than one giant change right away, there are easier and more fun ways to get all the fruit and veg you need in your meals.
1 – Don’t forget the power of zoodles
Zoodles (zucchini noodles) were a major trend a few years ago, but they’re still a solid option to eliminate extra carbs and add veg to your meals. Noodles can also be made out of sweet potato or with a spaghetti squash. Just add some sauce and your favorite protein.
2 – Don’t skip dessert
Dessert is arguable the best meal of the day, so skipping it just isn’t something I’d want to do. So, to get some nice and healthy fruits and protein and fats in there, consider some nice cream. Nice cream is blended bananas with your favorite flavors to eat instead of dessert. Add some strawberries and peanut butter to make a well-rounded, healthier ice cream.
3 – Eat your (baked) fries
Fries and potatoes are one of earth’s greatest gifts. For our bodies and personal health, not so much. If you want to cut back on fried potatoes, bake them. If you’re trying to cut out potatoes in general, consider zucchini, yucca, or other types of squash to satisfy your fry needs. Just cut into strips, coat with breadcrumbs or just add some oil, season, and bake. Apply the same idea to chips, too. You can even make fruit chips for a sweeter alternative.
