How to Make Drinking Water Fun

Even though water is a super necessary part in our diets, for some, it feels too much like a chore to stay hydrated. Fair enough – water is plain and can feel heavy in your stomach. But staying hydrated and drinking the right amount of water is key to staying healthy, which doesn’t have to be boring. Regardless, just make sure you’re getting enough fluids for your body, which may be different for everyone.

Add some fruits to your reusable water bottle

Before heading out to work, school, or the gym, cut up some fruits lying around your kitchen and add it to your bottle for some yummy infused water. The fruits add just enough flavor to not be overwhelmingly sweet and still taste good, so you feel more interested in drinking the water. Some favorite combos are lemon with cucumbers and strawberries with mint (also try freezing some of the fruit to act as ice cubes for cold water throughout the day).

Draw some lines on the water bottle

If you’re more goal-oriented, drawing lines in marker on your water bottle is a fun way to challenge yourself. You can add times of the day you want to drink a certain amount of water by, the actual number of ounces each line indicates, or just some words of encouragement. Before you know it, you’ll be well-hydrated and feeling confident for achieving your goals.

Set some reminders to Drink Water

For some people, drinking water is less about the water itself and more about simply forgetting to do it. To get one thing off your mental to-do list, set some reminders on your phone or set a timer to alert you throughout the day to drink a full glass of water. It’s an easy, mindless way to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.
